Church leaders can use the curriculum over a 6-week period as a special study in the church. Each week the group(s) meets with their group leader(s). The format is as follows: an opening discussion time for processing the study of the previous week, watching the video for the week, an optional time of discussing the video, prayer and dismissal. During the week between videos, group members complete Bible reading and/or study that corresponds to the video watched at the beginning of that week. The Bible reading/study material is divided into two levels: “Heart Rhythms: Meeting God in the Story” and “Depths of the Heart: Going Deeper.” The first part is for everyone. The second part is optional and provided for those who have the energy and time to dig deeper in the Word each week. Specifically, this second part will teach participants the basics of inductive Bible study. When group members return for the next group time, they engage in discussion of their time in the Word that week. The Heart of God's Story can be used annually as a church educates new church members in how to engage the Bible as one grand and life-changing Story. The study also can be used evangelistically to teach people the basics of the gospel by which God wants to extend his grace to us through a personal relationship with himself.
